The Weaker Love

By the Lord’s power and the Lord’s love, Peter was turned all the way around. This is the most beautiful love story there is.

Nine verses. Most of them are Peter talking. He is sure of himself in the first half and plainly wrong in the second, and the Lord keeps him either way.

九節經文。大部分是彼得在說話。前半他很有把握，後半他錯得很清楚，主還是沒有丟下他。

  1. Called at the lake在湖邊被呼召

    And Jesus, walking by the Sea of Galilee, saw two brothers, Simon called Peter, and Andrew his brother, casting a net into the sea; for they were fishermen. Then He said to them, “Follow Me, and I will make you fishers of men.”

    耶穌在加利利海邊行走，看見弟兄二人，就是那稱呼彼得的西門和他兄弟安得烈，在海裏撒網；他們本是打魚的。耶穌對他們說：「來跟從我，我要叫你們得人如得魚一樣。」

  2. He gets it right他說對了

    Simon Peter answered and said, “You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.”

    西門彼得回答說：「你是基督，是永生神的兒子。」

  3. He asks to walk out他求主叫他走過去

    And Peter answered Him and said, “Lord, if it is You, command me to come to You on the water.”

    彼得說：「主，如果是你，請叫我從水面上走到你那裏去。」

  4. First a refusal, then too much先是拒絕，然後又過了頭

    Peter said to Him, “You shall never wash my feet!” Jesus answered him, “If I do not wash you, you have no part with Me.” Simon Peter said to Him, “Lord, not my feet only, but also my hands and my head!”

    彼得說：「你永不可洗我的腳！」耶穌說：「我若不洗你，你就與我無分了。」西門彼得說：「主啊，不但我的腳，連手和頭也要洗。」

  5. A promise too big to keep許了一個太大的願

    Peter said to Him, “Lord, why can I not follow You now? I will lay down my life for Your sake.” Jesus answered him, “Will you lay down your life for My sake? Most assuredly, I say to you, you will deny Me three times before the rooster crows.”

    彼得說：「主啊，我為甚麼現在不能跟你去？我願意為你捨命！」耶穌說：「你願意為我捨命嗎？我實實在在地告訴你，雞叫以先，你要三次不認我。」

  6. He draws a sword他拔出刀來

    Then Simon Peter, having a sword, drew it and struck the high priest’s servant, and cut off his right ear. The servant’s name was Malchus.

    西門彼得帶著一把刀，就拔出來，將大祭司的僕人砍了一刀，削掉他的右耳；那僕人名叫馬勒古。

  7. He denies Him他不認主

    Peter then denied again; and immediately a rooster crowed.

    彼得又不承認。立時雞就叫了。

  8. He jumps into the sea他跳進海裏

    Simon Peter said to them, “I am going fishing.” … Therefore that disciple whom Jesus loved said to Peter, “It is the Lord!” Now when Simon Peter heard that it was the Lord, he put on his outer garment (for he had removed it), and plunged into the sea.

    西門彼得對他們說：「我打魚去。」……耶穌所愛的那門徒對彼得說：「是主！」那時西門彼得赤著身子，一聽見是主，就束上一件外衣，跳在海裏。

  9. Asked again主又問他一次

    He said to him again a second time, “Simon, son of Jonah, do you love Me?” He said to Him, “Yes, Lord; You know that I love You.” He said to him, “Tend My sheep.”

    耶穌第二次又對他說：「約翰的兒子西門，你愛我嗎？」彼得說：「主啊，是的，你知道我愛你。」耶穌說：「你牧養我的羊。」

Love, turned around愛的翻轉

Then Peter, filled with the Holy Spirit, said to them …

“let it be known to you all, and to all the people of Israel, that by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom you crucified, whom God raised from the dead, by Him this man stands here before you whole. This is the ‘stone which was rejected by you builders, which has become the chief cornerstone.’ Nor is there salvation in any other, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved.”

Acts 4:8, 10–12, NKJV

那時彼得被聖靈充滿，對他們說……

「你們眾人和以色列百姓都當知道，站在你們面前的這人得痊癒是因你們所釘十字架、神叫他從死裏復活的拿撒勒人耶穌基督的名。他是你們匠人所棄的石頭，已成了房角的頭塊石頭。除他以外，別無拯救；因為在天下人間，沒有賜下別的名，我們可以靠著得救。」

使徒行傳 4:8、10–12，和合本

The man who could not admit in a courtyard that he knew Jesus is the same man standing in front of the council saying His name out loud. Verse 8 says what happened in between: he was filled with the Holy Spirit.

那個在院子裏連認識耶穌都不敢承認的人，就是站在公會面前、把祂的名大聲說出來的同一個人。中間發生了甚麼，第 8 節寫了：他被聖靈充滿。
